The new dry bulk carrier is currently being constructed at Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding, and is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2015.
The buyer for the kamsarmax is not disclosed.
The deal will see Scorpio Bulkers reduce its orderbook to 71 vessels after a series of capesize newbuildings were converted to product tankers and sold to its sister firm Scorpio Tankers.
