Under the terms of the agreement, Denmark’s Viking will upgrade all of Topaz’s current life-rafts and manage the ongoing servicing and certification of Topaz’s life-raft fleet.
Dubai-headquartered Topaz believes that the new agreement will further strengthen the company’s health and safety credentials, raising the bar in an increasingly competitive market.
Topaz pointed out that the company achieved a 2013 year free of lost-time accidents. “The agreement will help to protect our track record and ensure even better safety for the future,” said Rene Kofod-Olsen, ceo of Topaz.
Henrik Uhd Christensen, ceo of Viking, said the new agreement is a good example of what can be accomplished when shipowners realise the advantages of having in place safety equipment provision and management.
