Vard lands $70m contract to build three module carriers
Vard Holdings, designer and builder of OSVs and specialised vessels, has landed a $70m contract to build three module carrier vessels for Kazakhstan’s Kazmortransflot (KMTF).

All three newbuildings will be built at Vard Braila in Romania, with delivery scheduled between third quarter of 2017 and first quarter of 2018.

The vessels will be operated by KMTF through a consortium led by Blue Water Shipping, and will be designed for transport in the Caspian Sea.

“We are pleased to welcome KMTF as a new customer to Vard, and look forward to the cooperation in this exciting project,” said Roy Reite, ceo and executive director of Vard.

“Our shipyard in Braila has unique experience in building vessels for Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea, and this new contract further underlines our long term commitment to the region,” Reite said.
