Vard is paying NOK35m ($4.29m) for Storvik Aqua, which provides feeding, measurement and control solutions to the aquaculture industry.
Vard is one of number of companies that is trying to fight the slump in the offshore sector by moving into aquaculture. It said that Storvik Aqua’s products would enable Vard Aukra shipyard to deliver specialized vessels for fish farming with innovative integrated solutions.
“Through this acquisition, Vard confirms its position as a provider of innovative solutions for the aquaculture business,” said Roy Reite ceo and executive director Vard.
Storvik Aqua has a production facility in Norway with subsidiaries in Scotland and Chile.
