The contract is the first of its kind for Wärtsilä in Africa, and covers the six LNG carriers each equipped with five Wärtsilä 50DF engines. The agreement is also the first to apply Wärtsilä's Data Acquisition System, part of Wärtsilä's Genius services, to optimise engine performance by providing real-time access and analysis of data with one system.
Wärtsilä will use Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) to remotely observe and predict the service needs of the engines on board the six LNG carriers, and deliver spare parts and maintenance.
TWe are very excited about this opportunity to provide superior maintenance services to BGT. In addition to increasing the engine uptime, BGT wanted to improve maintenance planning and operative cost control and this is something Wärtsilä can offer,” said Wärtsilä Marine Agreements gm of business development Simon Auseth. “With the continuous remote monitoring of the equipment and the dynamic maintenance planning concept, we can ensure optimal availability while minimising the risk of disruptions to operations.”
