Productive day of discussions at first Saudi Maritime Congress

The Congress opened with an official introduction from Abdul Aziz Mohammed Al Tuwaijri, president, Saudi Ports Authority, followed by Al-Suraiseri, who delivered the opening address. After extending a warm welcome to the Congress delegates, the Minister stressed how important a vibrant and healthy maritime industry was to the overall Saudi economy.
 
During a day of discussion focused on the development of Saudi Arabia's maritime industries, presentations included an assessment of the Kingdom's shipbuilding and ship repair offering by Hassan Abouraya, consultant engineer, business development, international marketing & risk management executive, Zamil Offshore Services, and a list of the 10 commandments of dry bulk shipping by Precious Shipping managing director, Khalid Hashim.
 
On the sidelines of the conference, Hashim also shared with Seatrade Global his thoughts on the recent lull in the dry bulk market.

Organised by Seatrade along with its strategic partner The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), the conference attracted over 300 maritime industry professionals to the opening day. The Saudi Maritime Congress continues today with further analysis and panel discussions on current industry issues in the Kingdom and the Middle East region.
