CDB Leasing’s ship leasing assets hit record $5.26bn in 2020

The total assets of ship leasing business of China Development Bank Leasing amounted to RMB34.18bn ($5.26bn) in 2020, hitting a record high.

Among which the ship leasing assets amounted to CNY30.49bn and the other related assets amount to CNY3.69bn, an increase of 25.5% year-on-year.

Despite the significant depression of shipping markets in 2020, the group still achieved good results in 2020 due to the timely and effective responses to the Covid-19 pandemic, CDB Leasing said.

In 2020, the group introduced a series of ship leasing business related systems and policies, which it said had greatly improved the management level and professionalism of group’s ship leasing business.

As the end of 2020, there was a total of 110 vessels under the existing fleet of CDB Leasing, among them there were 85 vessels under operating leases, including 81 bulk carriers, with another 24 vessels under construction, and five secondhand vessels to be delivered with deposit paid, and four product tankers, and another 10 product tankers to be delivered. There were 25 vessels under financial leases, including 13 container ships, eight bulk carriers, three LNG vessels and one cruise ship.
