Punit Oza appointed as executive director of SCMA

Former Torvald Klaveness senior executive Punit Oza is taking up the role of executive director of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA).

Oza will take up the post at SCMA on 1 March bringing with him 26 years of commercial experience in dry bulk shipping.

He is well known figure in the Singapore maritime community and is a board member of the Singapore Maritime Foundation, a senior adjunct fellow for the MPA Academy, and chairman of the Singapore branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.

“I hope to leverage my commercial expertise, along with the passion for maritime law and my firm belief in the amazing eco-system of Maritime Singapore, to make SCMA a successful part of Maritime Singapore,” Oza commented on taking up the appointment.

He has been an individual member of SCMA for the last six years.

SCMA was established in 2004 under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), moving function independently in 2009 and has achieved considerable success in promoting Singapore as a centre of maritime dispute resolution.
