ONE extends aid to cyclone victims in Africa

Cyclone victims in Africa can look forward to receiving recycled clothing thanks to a joint effort by Japan’s ONE and Uniqlo.

ONE, or Ocean Network Express, is providing free transportation of two containers full of recycled clothing supplied by casual wear manufacturer and retailer Uniqlo.

The containers will be shipped from Japan’s Yokohama on containership NYK Demeter on 15 July, arriving Durban in South Africa in mid-August.

Upon arrival, the relief items will be distributed at the Ubuntu facility in Zimbabwe to the affected areas.

Bentley Namasasu of Malawi Embassy and Taona Havadi of Zimbabwe Embassy in Japan participated in the packing operation of the recycled clothing to express their gratitude for the assistance received.

ONE said that working closely with Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mozambique embassies, the non-profit organisation Ubuntu, and the Japanese Organisation for International Cooperation in Family Planning (JOICFP), this joint initiative has further strengthened the relationship between Japan and these countries.
