West P&I Club setting up Dubai office
The first International Group P&I insurer to open an office in Dubai will be West P&I Club later this year.
The Club says the move emphasises the importance of the region to the club.
They have hired North P&I Director of Claims Capt Gagan Dhillon as CEO (Dubai) to head up business in the region.
The new office expected to be operational from DIFC in the autumn will focus on claims handling and communications for the UAE, Gulf region and Indian subcontinent. They will be supported by the Club ’s teams in London and Piraeus.
Tom Bowsher, Group CEO of West P&I, commented: “Regionalisation is a key part of our strategy, and this office will further enhance the quality and personal touch of our services to existing members, as well as supporting our new business development in the region.”
Capt. Dhillon said, “This office and local team will position us at the heart of a growing maritime hub for owners, charterers and traders, making it an attractive location in the Club’s regional network of offices.”
West P&I has also created a new position Head of Middle East Operations and Offshore promoting Eman Hussain into the role.
His role will be to coordinate the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Turkey and Africa (MITA) team to ensure alignment with the Club's overall strategy.
