Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation to develop LNG dual-fuel VLCC with DSIC

Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation has jointly launched a project with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) to develop the world’s first LNG dual-fuel VLCC.

The VLCC, using LNG as main fuel, will be able to reduce carbon emissions by 20% and sulphur emissions by 95% comparing conventional fuel.

The company is continuing to develop its LNG transportation business, exploring new energy transportation market and expanding the arctic shipping routes to improve financial results and optimize operation structure, said Lu Junshan, secretary of the party committee of Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation.

Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation, established in 2016 in Shanghai, focuses on oil and LNG transportation. The company currently operates the world’s largest oil tanker fleet and is expanding VLCC pool scale.
