The latest order at DSIC brings Cosco Shipping Energy Transport fleet of ordered and existing LNG carriers to 85.
The two new vessels will be operated and managed by two newly-established, wholly-owned subsidiaries of Cosco Shipping Energy Transport, Yuanxing LNG Transportation Company and Yuanzhi LNG Transportation Company.
“Investment in the new LNG carriers is in line with the company’s long-term development strategy in global energy transport market. Demands from LNG transport keeps increasing and we believe there is a bigger market for LNG transportation,” said Cosco Shipping Energy Transport.
As the end of June, Cosco Shipping Energy Transport has invested in 85 LNG carriers serving for energy projects worldwide, 45 of which has already been put into operation and the other forty LNG carriers are under construction.
In the first eight months of this year, China’s LNG import volume reached 87.13m tons, an increase 12.3% year-on-year.
