Wärtsilä dual fuel engines to power Shell's LNG bunkering vessel
Wärtsilä's dual fuel engines will power Shell's specialised LNG bunkering vessel, due to be built by STX Offshore & Shipbuilding for deployment in Northern Europe.

The ship will be based in Rotterdam, loading LNG from the Gass Access to Europe (Gate) Terminal for distribution as a marine fuel to ships in Rotterdam and the surrounding area.
Three 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 20DF dual-fuel engines will power the vessel, capable of operating on either gas or diesel fuel. The engines are scheduled for delivery to the yard in spring 2016.

"This specialised LNG bunker vessel is a pioneering new design," said Dr Grahaeme Henderson, vp of Shell Shipping & Maritime. "It will have a capacity to carry 6,500 cu m of LNG fuel, and will be highly efficient and manoeuvrable. It will be able to load from big or small terminals and to bunker a broad variety of vessels."
