The two 100,000 tonnes-class berths project are invested and constructed by Cosco Shipping Ports Quanzhou Terminal, adopting “smart port and green low-carbon” solutions developed by Cosco Shipping, which can realize completely unmanned operation all day long. The new berths are also equipped with shore power systems, which are already available at all berths in Shihu port area of Quanzhou.

Phase one project has started operation. When the entire project is completed, the annual handling capacity of Shihu port area will be increased by 40% to 3m teu.

With the delivery of new berth, Cosco Shipping Lines and OOCL, two container service providers under Cosco Shipping Group, are opening up two new services to Singapore and Malaysia, further strengthening foreign trading service capacity in Southeast Asia regions and expanding Maritime Silk Road markets.

Cosco Shipping Group began operation of Quanzhou Shihu terminal in 2006, which has established direct shipping connections with Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines and other Belt and Road Initiative countries and regions.
