The takeover, expected to complete in the second quarter, will enable Alfa Laval to supply ultrasonic antifouling technology to clients in the marine, oil and gas, and industrial markets. The technology is based on microscopic bubbles that implode, causing agitation that disrupts the surface of an asset. The process cuts fouling, scaling, and the accumulation of sludge and other deposits.

In a marine context, fouling increases fuel burn and emissions but can also endanger the environment through the spread of invasive species. In the energy sector, the ATEX-approved technology helps to keep stationary surfaces free from biofouling.

“In the race to net zero, solutions that enhance energy efficiency and operational performance are more essential than ever,” declared Sameer Kalra, President of Alfa Laval’s Marine Division.

“The inclusion of ultrasonic anti-fouling technology into our portfolio is another addition to our decarbonisation toolbox. By addressing the critical problem of biofouling with this advanced technique, we will enable our customers to meet both business and environmental objectives.”
