China Merchants Port and Tencent establish technology jv

China’s port operator, China Merchants Port and the internet service provider, Tencent, jointly set up internet technology company.

The new joint venture, Shenzhen Gangteng Internet Technology, will focus on developing products for upstream and downstream industry chain of port and port ecosystem, according to Wang Xiufeng, CEO of China Merchants Port.

Zhong Xiangping, Deputy President of Tencent said, Tencent and China Merchants Port will work together to explore digital technology’s application on port industry, to improve port operation and management efficiency, and promote port business model innovation.

Shenzhen Gangteng Internet Technology, bringing China Merchants Port and Tencent’s superiorities in port and internet sectors into full play, will develop a series of digital products of logistics, trading and big data for industry players.
