GMS hires Lloyd’s Register for ERP system installation

Abu Dhabi-based self-elevating support vessel (SESV) operator, Gulf Marine Services, has hired Lloyd’s Register (LR) to install a new cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system developed by Hanseaticsoft.

The German software company’s Cloud Fleet Manager, which is provided on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) basis, will provide the offshore operator with scope to upgrade internal procedures, such as crew and inventory management, which are currently manual processes. Hanseaticsoft is a subsidiary of LR.

London-listed GMS operates a fleet of 13 self-propeller SESV currently engaged in a range of offshore oil and gas platform refurbishment and maintenance activities, well intervention, wind turbine maintenance, offshore energy platform installation and decommissioning, and wind turbine installation.

In a statement, GMS said that “the cloud-based single source of truth and applications that are optimised for different departments would increase collaboration and streamline processes. The SaaS system can be easily integrated and does not need additional hardware installations or extra IT staff to manage and maintain it.

“The integration of this new software solution represents another efficiency-improving step by GMS, which further enhances our client offering,” said GMS Executive Chairman, Mansour Al Alami. “With utilisation and the contracted backlog of the company’s vessels continuing to grow, driven by improving market conditions combined with the strength of the GMS fleet, the new solution will be an invaluable tool to allow us to continue to provide a best-in-class service, while undertaking safe operations and helping to further reduce our environmental footprint.”

Meanwhile, LR’s Maritime Performance Services Director, Andy McKeran commented: “We’re delighted to have been selected by GMS. The GMS fleet, one of the youngest in the industry, operates worldwide and consists of flexible four-legged units in small, medium and large size categories. As self-propeller units, they do not require tug assistance, thereby saving time and reducing costs when moving between locations.
