The aim of the technical hub will be to aid the maritime industry in the area of decarbonisation.

MOL Marine & Engineering (MOLMEC), MOL Ocean Expert (MOLOX), and MOL Ship Tech (MOLST) will be merged to form the new company effective 1 April 2025. The merged company is yet to be named and its official name will be announced in March 2025.

As a technical group, the new company will offer services such as maritime and new shipbuilding consulting, maritime human resources training, and crew support to operational support and maintenance.

The new company will focus on the use of digital technology to support MOL’s businesses, including the wind power generation business, a key area targeted for investment and expansion.

“Through its wide-ranging line-up of services, the new company will contribute to the realisation of a carbon-neutral maritime industry,” MOL said.

MOL, through its wholly-owned subsidiary MOL Clean Energy, had had announced plans to invest in US-based e-fuels producer HIF Global aiming to reduce carbon emissions by promoting the establishment of a ‘robust’ e-fuel and CO2 supply chain.
