Five heavyweight shipping companies are set to install Orca AI’s situational awareness systems on selected vessels. The companies are members of the NorthStandard P&I Club and their moves follow the Club’s endorsement of the digital system that supports navigating personnel on the bridge.

New York-based Liberty Maritime and Curtin Maritime, with headquarters in Long Beach, California, are two US owners taking up the Orca AI platform. SeaTraders, owned by Greece’s Procopiou family, which also owns Dynacom Tankers and Dynagas, is adopting the technology. And Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping and bulk carrier owner MMSL, will also install Orca AI systems.

The situational system, SeaPod, supports navigators by detecting and tracking objects at sea in all weather conditions throughout the day and night. The technology is also designed to prevent unnecessary manoeuvres and speed alterations, thereby saving fuel and reducing emissions.

The technology has already been installed on vessels operated by Maran Tankers, MSC, NYK, Seaspan, and TMS Tankers. Its FleetView component enables shore-based staff to keep track of real-time situation awareness developments on board ships.

Commenting on the take-up by NorthStandard members, Orca AI CEO and co-founder Yarden Gross declared: “We're thrilled to welcome these established shipping companies as the latest adopters of our technology. Their commitment to safety, efficiency, and reliability not only strengthens their individual operations through proactive risk management but also sets a benchmark for the broader maritime community. As the shipping industry undergoes transformational change, advanced technology is unlocking new opportunities for collaboration that benefit all stakeholders and wider society.”
