Stolt Tankers inks deal for Yara Marine propulsion optimisation system
Stolt Tankers is to fit a further seven vessels with Yara Marine Technologies’ propulsion optimisation system.
Under a follow-on agreement inked at SMM 2022 in Hamburg Stolt Tankers is to equip seven of its tankers with Yara Marine’s FuelOpt propulsion opitimisation technology. The contract comes after installation and evaluation of FuelOpt on board the Stolt Breland in early 2022.
Jose Gonzalez Celis, Energy and Conservation Manager at Stolt Tankers, said:
“Shipping needs practical and cost-effective solutions that demonstrate tangible results, and I am pleased to say that our agreement with Yara Marine Technologies has ensured that we are making real progress towards greater fuel efficiency without compromising operational efficacy.”
FuelOpt adapts propulsive power to changing environmental conditions and erases costly variations in speed and power. In the case of vessels such as the Stolt Berland fitted with a pitch propellor the system offers dynamic pitch and RPM optimization that regulates propeller pitch and engine RPM separately.
