The 300,000 dwt VLCC newbuild Amad was delivered to Bahri on 9 May bringing the Saudi owner's VLCC fleet to 46 vessels, and its total fleet to 93 ships.

Bahri ordered 10 VLCCs from the South Korean shipbuilder in 2015.

“A 46-strong VLCC fleet places Bahri in an excellent position to pursue bigger growth opportunities as part of our long-term expansion strategy,” said Abdullah Al-Dubaikhi, ceo of Bahri.

“By further solidifying our leadership credentials as the world’s largest owner and operator of VLCCs, the robustness of our fleet enables us to expand our business prospects in the oil tanker market, meet the growing demand for crude oil transportation, and enhance our service offering to deliver greater efficiency and value to our stakeholders.”

Bahri is committed to make some of its future VLCC newbuilding orders at new Saudi shipbuilder International Maritime Industries, a joint between the shipowner, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Saudi Aramco and Lamprell.
