The two organisations signed the agreement on 20 December 2013. The agreement allows KR to carry out relevant surveys, audits and issue certificates to Danish and Greenland ships for Solas, Marpol, ITC, ILL, ISM, ISPS and MLC.

All exemption certification relating to surveys will also be issued by KR, after acquiring prior approval from the government of Denmark.

“This long term cooperation agreement is the starting point for developing a further cooperative relationship with Denmark,” said Chon Young-kee, chairman and ceo of KR.

“KR has been receiving new international authorisations at the rate of three or four a year, and we hope to sign further agreements in 2014,” Chon added.

The latest agreement brings the total number of countries where KR is authorised to carry out ship survey and certification work to 66, according to KR.

KR has been issuing certificates to Danish ships for inspection and examination of ITC since 1998.
