KR commits to education and training

On 21 February in Busan, Korea, the Korean Register of Shipping formally opened a newly built education and training center dedicated to international shipping and shipbuilding professionals.
The four storey, 5,500 square meter facility houses 13 lecture halls and seminar rooms and is designed to train around 100 students in comfort. In addition, the center is equipped with research facilities and well as indoor and outdoor sports pitches.
Adding to its attractiveness, the new training center is located within the grounds of KR’s new headquarters building and in a city that is home to many major shipping, shipbuilding and marine equipment manufacturing companies.
On the occasion of opening the new center, Oh Kong-gyun, Chairman & CEO of KR said:
"I take immense pleasure and pride in the fact that KR is now fully ready to contribute to the development and growth of the maritime industry. The opening of this new facility cements our commitment to ongoing training and emphasizes the importance we place on continuous education. I am sure that our experienced and professional teaching staff will provide systematic and effective training and education services to those who work in the shipping and shipbuilding industries, including those working in the value added and future leading business areas such as offshore and plant sectors.“
