Drydocks World bolsters offshore services
Dubai: Shiprepair, conversion and newbuild group Drydocks World has announced the launch of a Global Offshore Services arm, coinciding with the opening of a new workshop in Fujairah to complement its existing facilities in Dubai.

Global Offshore Services will provide technical support teams to service vessels offshore; often at short notice, from workshops based in Dubai and Fujairah – in order to serve both the Gulf and the Indian Ocean.

“The reinforcement of Drydocks World - Global Offshore Services with an extension in Fujairah supporting our main workshop in Dubai is part of our long-term business strategy. Our vision is to broaden the reach of our services and to cater to repair and maintenance needs of vessel, rig and yacht owners at offshore locations and overseas. The unit works 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.

The chairman said Drydocks World Global Offshore Services could provide maintenance and repair during a vessel’s journey.  “The division also provides added strength to the main yard for technical and specialist assistance, when necessary. The teams have been active in far-flung areas such as the Far East, Indian Ocean, Middle East, North and West Africa and the Arabian Gulf, Arabian Sea, Europe and the Americas,” he added.

Dubai Drydocks World has also just launched a green initiative, to encourage companies to share green solutions, and to lobby government departments to arrive at environment friendly policies.
