Located close to Dubai Creek, the majlis comprises large meeting spaces and a prayer hall in Jadaf shipyard, part of Drydocks World and Maritime World, one of the region's leading maritime service providers.
"The maritime industry in the region is evolving at a rapid pace due to technological advances and the ever expanding knowledge base within the industry. We seek to provide an opportunity, especially to the conventional and well-established companies within Jadaf to engage with each other so as to build bridges, strengthen relationships and share knowledge and expertise, which will ultimately benefit the industry at large," said Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.
More than 300 shipping and marine companies operate in the area. H.E Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone and Director General of Dubai Customs, on behalf of Dubai Customs, and Khamis Juma Buamim, recently signed an MoU aimed at streamlining procedures within the rapidly growing maritime zone.
The document covers ship construction, repair and maintenance, oil platforms, forwarding ships and maritime projects and engineering, as they require simplified procedures for supply and delivery of equipment, spare parts and other materials.
