Kokuka Courageous arrives safely at anchorage in UAE

Chemical tanker Kokuka Courageous damaged in last Thursday's attacks in the Gulf of Oman arrived safely at anchorage in the UAE on Sunday.

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement had arrived at a designated anchorage in Kalba, UAE.

“The damage assessment and preparation for the ship-to-ship transfer cargo will commence once the port authorities have completed their standard security checks and formalities,” the ship manager said.

The ship-to-ship transfer of its cargo of methanol is yet to be scheduled. The vessel's crew remain on board having returned after initially abandoning ship following the attack.

The 2010 built, 27,000 dwt chemical tanker was one of two vessels attacked in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday morning along with 2016-built Frontline aframax, Front Altair, forcing the crews of both vessels to evacuate.

The other tanker, Front Altair, would also appear reached the area near Fujairah, UAE according to data from MarineTraffic.
