The new Imabari office will be led by Eiji Okazaki, president of the Liberian International Ship and Corporate Registry (LISCR) Japan, and he will oversee key staff trained to handle ship registrations and technical issues locally. Okazaki has been in charge of LISCR’s Tokyo office since 2017.
Speaking at an office warming party on 3 October LISCR coo Alfonso Castillero said, “Opening the Imabari office was a natural step for the Registry; as our client base grows in Japan, we must grow with it. The office is operated by Japanese maritime professionals, speaking the same language as our clients, which is key to providing personalised and high-quality services.”
The party saw a crowd of over 170 shipowners, shipbuilders, banks, insurance companies, trading companies, class societies and law firms. The evening featured congratulatory remarks from Japanese shipowners, Nagahisa Seno, senior executive managing director of Seno Kisen, and Yukito Higaki, president of Shoei Kisen and Imabari Shipbuilding, as well as some words from Koichi Fujiwara, chairman of Class NK and a strategic partner of LISCR Japan.
There is more growth ahead for the Liberian Registry which has now seen five new offices in Asia since 2017. “Liberia will continue to open offices in key locations around the globe to support Liberian-flagged shipowners, wherever they may be in the world,” Castillero said.
