ONE and Hapag-Lloyd launching new Africa, Middle East and India service

Container lines Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Hapag-Lloyd are launching a new service covering Africa, India and the Middle East.

The new service named the Africa India Middle East (AIM) service by ONE and MIAX (Middle East-India-Africa Express) by Hapag-Lloyd include direct connections between the Arabian Gulf, India, Colombo (Sri Lanka), La Réunion, South Africa and West Africa.

“With MIAX, we are expanding our service offerings for the growing African market and integrating the continent even more tightly into our global network. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers even faster and more flexible direct connections in the future," said Mark Wottke, senior director trade management Africa for Hapag-Lloyd.

The service is due to start in early October utilising nine 2,800 teu capacity vessels.
