Mutual insurer Skuld advised its members to “ensure that ships and crew calling at Egyptian ports or transiting the Suez canal remain on alert and take suitable precautions for their safety” with particular care taken if crew step ashore – “even for a short period of time”.
GAC Egypt said that Suez Canal transits and operations at all ports continue as normal and were unaffected by the unrest. "However, GAC Egypt recommends suspending crew changes/spares delivery and other similar operations until further notice," GAC said.
Meanwhile, Inchcape Shipping Services has announced that it is suspending husbandry services at Suez Canal and other Egyptian ports. The firm notes "Suez Canal transits are running as per schedule and operations at all Egyptian ports are working normally, with the exception of some terminals suspending cargo coming in and out."
