Eastern Pacific Shipping made its first order at China Merchants Jinling shipyard for the construction of up to six car carriers.

The deal includes four plus two 70,000 tonne-class dual fuel car carriers, which will be 199.9 metres in length and 38 metres width, with a carrying capacity of 7,050 units.

Using LNG fuel and environmentally friendly technologies, the vessels will have 99% lower sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions compared to ships fueled by heavy fuel oil, and 30% lower CO2 emissions, the companies said.

It is the first co-operation between EPS and China Merchants Jinling shipyard, demonstrating the clients high recognition to Jinling shipyard for roro vessel construction, said the shipyard.

Year to date, Jinling shipyard had delivered five large size roro vessels.
