The acquisition of Hamburg Sud by Maersk Line the requirements on the merger imposed by the Chinese and South Korean authorities has resulted in a wholesale revamp of services on the trade between Asia and WCSA.
From April there will be 10 services between the Far East and WCSA with 105 vessels deployed with a capacity of 893,000 teu. This compares to nine services with 95 vessels totalling 775,800 teu deployed previously.
According to Alphaliner capacity is up 15% on current services in the trade, and 18% year-on-year.
