USCG raises Savannah, Jacksonville port condition to 'Zulu' as Hurricane Dorian closes in

doriannew
As Hurricane Dorian tracks slowly up the Florida coast the US Coast Guard has set port condition “Zulu” for Savannah and Brunswick suspending all vessel calls and movements.

The Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) set port condition “Zulu” for all terminals in Savannah and Brunswick ports, and Jacksonville, Fernandina terminals in expectation of gale force winds from Hurricane Dorian in the next 12 hours.

“While port condition Zulu is in place no vessels may enter or transit within these ports without permission of the COTP. All vessel movements are prohibited at this time, and all ship-to-shore operations must cease,” the USCG said.

The ports of Savannah and Jacksonville are major container terminals on the US East Coast.

The USCG also set the port condition for Charleston as “Yankee” closing it to all commercial vessel movements and cargo operations.
