JOC covers both flight bookings and travel management and is claimed to offer appreciable savings for companies wishing to make bookings themselves online via the portal, as well as manage crew transits through real-time monitoring of crew whereabouts on route to and from vessels.
Fly Hi belongs to Elektrans Group and has been in business 11 years. The company is licensed with IATA and accredited to ISO 9001:2015 QMS standard, with overseas offices in Singapore and Dubai.
The company says JOC has been developed after an extensive R&D effort lasting three years, in close cooperation with ship owners, ship managers, crew managers and travel agents.
Benefits of the system are said to include instant access and overview of fares across 70 different countries; an automated process for company internal approval and audit procedures; live updates on any emergencies affecting travel schedules and re-routing as necessary; a crew communicator app allowing messaging to seafarers before and during transits; forex assistance; and cyber security protection.
