Genco opens Singapore office

Genco Shipping & Trading is opening an office in Singapore hiring a senior broker from Simpson Spence & Young (SSY).

The New York Stock Exchange-listed dry bulk shipowner announced on Tuesday it was opening an office in Singapore and that it would be headed  Ivo Kempenaer as vice president and commercial director, head of major bulks. Kempenaer was previously a senior broker on the capesize desk at SSY in the Lion City.

 “Genco continues to take important steps to optimise our commercial strategy and enable the company to more fully capitalise on its leading and sizeable operating platform,” said John Wobensmith, ceo of Genco. “We are excited to establish a  presence and grow our footprint globally, supporting our efforts to offer a full-scale logistics solution and strengthen relationships with leading iron ore producers and charterers worldwide.”

Genco has a fleet of 13 capesize, six panamax , four ultramax, 21 supramax, one handymax and 15 handysize dry bulk vessels.
