Keppel bags $206m jack-up rig order
Singapore's Keppel FELS has bagged a contract to build a jack-up rig for $206m from Uruguay-based Parden Holding.

The rig, scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2015, will be deployed in offshore Mexico. The rig will be capable of operating in water depths of up to 400 feet and drill to depths of 30,000 feet with accommodation for up to 150 persons.

This contract brings the total number of KFELS B Class jack-up rigs ordered for the Mexican market since 2012 to 12.

Panaretos Lagos, ceo of Parden Holding, said: “Even with the number of new rigs being ordered, we continue to see strong demand for high specification jack-up rigs in the Gulf of Mexico as the country looks to increase its production of oil and gas.”

Besides this order, Keppel FELS, wholly-owned by Keppel Offshore & Marine, is also building another eight KFELS B Class rigs for the Mexican market.
