Keppel Shipyard to perform LNG carrier conversion job for Golar LNG
Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard has entered into a conditional contract with Golar Hilli Corporation, subsidiary of Golar LNG, to perform a conversion of an existing Moss LNG carrier into a floating liquefaction vessel (FLNGV).

Keppel Shipyard, wholly-owned by Keppel Offshore & Marine, said that the conversion of the Moss LNG carrier, the Hilli, will be the world’s first-of-its-type.

“This contract will become effective upon the fulfilment of several conditions precedent including the receipt by Keppel Shipyard of the initial milestone payment,” parent firm Keppel Corp said in a statement.

The conditional contract follows the launch of the offering of Golar LNG’s common stock on 24 June, where the proceeds of the offering are expected to be used to fully fund the initial milestone payment to Keppel Shipyard.
