Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine announced that it has won a raft of new projects valued at SGD400m ($288m) for offshore gas and wind farm developments as well as cruise ship upgrades.

The new contracts are with Sembmarine’s various repeat and new customers, and its venture into the offshore wind sector in Taiwan.

Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters has inked agreements with joint venture companies of Shapoorji Pallonji Oil and Gas and Bumi Armada to convert VLCC Ariake into a FPSO unit for deployment in the east coast of India.

The vessel will produce up to 90,000 barrels of oil per day and have a 1.3 million barrel storage facility.

The project includes hull repairs and upgrading as well as fabrication of at least three topside modules which Sembmarine will install on the vessel. The work will be done at its flagship Tuas Boulevard Yard, with delivery scheduled in the second half of 2021.

Sembcorp Marine Repairs & Upgrades has also added three new gas projects, namely the conversion of LNG tanker Dwiputra into a FSRU, conversion of NYK’s former gas carrier LNG Flora into a FSU, and upgrading works on FSRU BW Magna.

All three projects are scheduled to be completed between the end of this year and February 2020.

Additionally, Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms has landed a contract with Jan De Nul to fabricate 15 jacket foundations for the Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Farm located offshore Miaoli County in the Taiwan Strait.

The Formosa 2 jacket foundations will be delivered to Jan De Nul by December 2020, to prepare the wind farm for operations starting in late 2021.

Meanwhile, Sembmarine will spearhead the makeover of Japan’s largest cruise ship Asuka II for NYK Cruises, installing a scrubber unit on the vessel over a 45-day period from January 2020.
