Typhoon Hagibis sinks cargo ship in Japan waters

A 12-member crew cargo ship sank in the waters near Tokyo on Sunday as Typhoon Hagibis lashed Japan, leaving at least five crew dead, local reports said.

Four crew members were rescued while another three were still missing, it was reported.

The Panama-flagged 1,925-dwt cargo vessel Jia De lost its tracking signal on Saturday night local time, according to the Japan Coast Guard.

The coast guard revealed that there crew onboard the vessel include seven Chinese, three Burmese and two Vietnamese.

The vessel had been anchored off the coast of Kawasaki city, south of Tokyo.
