UDS confirms order for diving support vessel at Wu Chang shipyard
Ultra Deep Group (UDS) has penned a contract to build one DP2 multipurpose diving support construction vessel (DSCV) at China’s Wu Chang Shipbuilding Industry Group.

The vessel, named Andy Warhol, will be designed to consume lower fuel and reduce emissions. The latest contract includes an option for one more unit.

The DSCV will be equipped with Flash Tekk 18 man single bell saturation system operating at 300 metres, a 150 tonnes AHC crane with a single fall of 3,000 metres, and can accommodate up to 120 personnel.

“Our building team has engineered a perfectly timed subsea construction vessel. Ultra Deep Solutions goal is to build up to 25 subsea construction vessels by 2018-2019,” said Shel Hutton, ceo of UDS.

“The downturn in the market has given us the opportunity to look for greater pricing to create a new opportunity for us,” Hutton said.
