Wärtsilä unveils new LNG storage barge for small-scale power generation
Wärtsilä is introducing a new LNG storage and regasification barge concept, for supplying LNG for power generation, unveiled at Gastech 2015 in Singapore.

The Wärtsilä Mobile LNG barge can be hooked up to a barge-mounted power plant with an output capacity of up to 250 MW, or alternatively, can be used to supply conventional land-based power plants.

The vessel is designed to bring cleaner energy to areas with limited or no access to the national electricity grid, and locations where pipelines and large-scale LNG receiving terminals are not feasible.

"Wärtsilä's solutions support the entire gas value chain, from drilling and production, to delivery, liquefaction, regasification, storage, and power generation,” says Timo Koponen, Flow and Gas Solutions vp, Wärtsilä Marine Solutions. “This latest innovation is one more important step towards completing our LNG infrastructure offering. Most existing facilities are geared for larger-scale users, whereas the Wärtsilä Mobile LNG offers a flexible and mobile option for small to medium requirements.”
