BV to class largest boxships ever built in China

Bureau Veritas (BV) is to class the largest containerships ever ordered in China.

BV is to class three 16,000 teu boxships ordered by French line CMA CGM at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) and Jiangnan Changxing.

They will be the largest container vessels ever built in China and BV said in its newsletter the design for the vessels had been developed by Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC) in cooperation with BV which performed the drawings’ approval.

The vessels will be 399 m long, with a beam of 54 m and a draught of 16 m.
