Vard wins contract for Diving Support Vessel from Kreuz Subsea

Vard wins contract for Diving Support Vessel from Kreuz Subsea
Vard has secured a contract to design and construct a Diving Support and Construction Vessel for Singapore-based Kreuz Subsea group.

Designed by Vard in Ålesund, Norway, the VARD 3 17 vessel, with a total length of 91.2 m and a beam of 21.5 m, will be constructed at Vard Tulcea in Romania, with delivery scheduled in Q2 2017.

Roy Reite, Vard ceo and executive director, said: “I would like to welcome the Kreuz Subsea group as a new client for VARD, and look forward to working with them on this exciting project. Being chosen to develop and build this innovative vessel for use in the Asia Pacific region is proof that our technology and designs are applicable to diverse offshore environments globally, and we are able to expand our reach into new markets.”

Prepared for use of Remote Operating Vehicles (ROVs), the DP2 class vessel will have a 100 ton active heave compensated offshore crane, with a single bell diving system for a maximum of 12 divers. The vessel will be capable of operation at depths of 300 m, as well as accommodating up to 105 on board.

The contract will be a boon for the company, which cut its workforce in Q1 because of a drought in orders.
