"Once sanctioned, production from this second FLNG vessel is expected to commence in 2016," said a company spokesman from Malaysia's national oil company was quoted as saying. He added that two consortiums are currently undertaking simultaneous front-end engineering and design (FEED) work for the project.
One consortium is made up of JGC Corp and Samsung Heavy Industries, and the other comprises Modec, IHI, Toyo Engineering and CB&I.
Petronas has previously said the second FLNG vessel project will have a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG, with first shipments expected by 2016.
