Five seafarers still missing from barge capsize off Singapore
Search and rescue operations continued today for five crew missing from the barge Heng Hong 168, which capsized off Singapore on Thursday morning.

Six seafarers were rescued from a life raft by the Singapore Police Coast Guard (PCG) on Thursday morning after the Bolivia-flagged barge capsized about 3nm west of Horsburgh Lighthouse in Singapore waters.

As at 1700hrs local time on Friday the five remaining crew members, all Chinese nationals, were still missing the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said.

Search and rescue operations have involved two Super Puma helicopters from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, two patrol vessels from the Republic of Singapore Navy, two PCG patrol craft, divers and a diving support vessel from Resolve Salvage & Fire (Asia), and 60 passing commercial vessels.

The six crew members rescued, also Chinese nationals, were said to be well and did not require medical attention.
