The system installed on the roof of Altus' warehouse is designed to generate 152,517kWh of electricity a year and Photovoltaic Grid-tied (PV) system comprises 456 pieces of REC-255Wp solar panels.
Swire said it would produce savings of $39,000 a year on Altus’ electricity bills, with monthly savings of 45.1%. The system cost $198,400 and has a lifespan of 25 years.
“Altus Logistics seeks to promote sustainable development in the way we operate our business and this is closely aligned with the corporate mandate of our parent company, Swire Pacific Offshore. This project is a milestone achievement for us as this long term investment will significantly reduce our carbon footprint and electrical consumption,” said Michael Ellsworth, ceo of Altus Logistics.
We cannot help but note that the installation of the system would appear to have coincided with the onset of Singapore’s wet season with huge monsoon storms most afternoons that can appear to turn day into night in the equatorial city-state. However, at least there was sun and blue skies for some of their photos if not all.
