Taiwan’s Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp has launched two new 14,000-teu containerships at Japan’s Imabari Shipyard on Wednesday.

The two new containerships, YM Warranty and YM Wellspring, are the fourth and fifth of the five 14,000-teu containerships that Yang Ming chartered from Shoei Kisen Kaisha.

Since 2015, a total of 20 newly-built 14,000-teu containerships have been added to Yang Ming’s fleet.

In addition to these large ships, Yang Ming will deploy 10 self-owned 2,800-teu container vessels and 14 chartered-in 11,000-teu containerships, which are to be delivered during 2020-22.

“With the modern, eco-friendly and highly efficient new vessels, Yang Ming will be able to provide customers worldwide with more efficient and cost competitive services,” the company stated.
