Swissco orders two AHTS vessels

Offshore services provider Swissco Holdings has ordered two anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels and a fast utility/crew boat with an option for a second unit.

The newbuild vessels, to be built at Chinese shipyards, are worth an aggregate of SGD42m ($33.5m). They are scheduled to be delivered in 2015.

Swissco is continuing to renew its fleet to maintain a low age profile as part of its overall strategy to stay competitive with a modern fleet of vessels available for charter.

“We believe that the heightened demand for offshore support vessels will remain sustainable on the back of healthy level of activities in the robust oil and gas industry and we will continue to tap on this growing demand by enhancing our fleet capabilities through out vessel expansion and fleet renewal program,” said Robert Chua, executive chairman of Swissco.

As at 30 November 2013, Swissco has 14 new vessels under construction and operates 32 ships comprising mostly of utility boats and anchor handlers.
