Shipowner Vroon is selling its offshore wind installation provider MPI Offshore to Van Oord, and one of the company’s vessels to Jan de Nul Group.

Vroon has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Van Oord to sell MPI Offshore in the UK to Van Oord, which will take over its operations in Stokesley, UK and two vessels and crew – MPI Adventure and MPI Resolution.
Meanwhile another part of the operations of MPI Offshore have been sold to Jan De Nul in a deal which includes offshore jack-up crane vessel MPI Discovery together with its crew, as well as a number of MPI’s employees.
To further support our expansion in Europe but also worldwide, we continue investing in our offshore wind resources. The MPI Discovery will considerably strengthen our position on the market,” said Philippe Hutse, offshore director at Jan De Nul.
The deal with Van Oord for MPI Offshore’s UK operation is subject to regulatory approvals and due diligence and expected to be closed by end September.
“With this acquisition Van Oord will further strengthen its wind organisation in the UK market,” a statement from MPI Offshore said.
