Offshore Oil Engineering Co (COOEC) in Zhuhai, China has formed a joint venture with US firm Fluor Corporation to develop offshore marine equipment for the international market.

The joint venture, named Zhonghai Fluor Heavy Industry, was officially established in Zhuhai in China’s Guangdong province on Thursday.

The new set up aims to actively expand into the international market, and offer worldclass deepwater engineering equipment manufacturing services, as well as marine and onshore modular engineering business.

COOEC, controlled by state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), designs and builds major offshore equipment, while Fluor engages in engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and maintenance and project management.
