The five year charter, with up to five year options, is for a high capacity construction support vessel ordered in June 2012 at a cost of NOK800m ($140m). Based on Ulstein's SX121 design the 130 m construction support vessel (CSV) is optimised for operation in deep and harsh waters, with DP3 standard dynamic positioning, a 250 ft active heave compensated crane and accommodation for 130 crew. Ceona will also equip the vessel with a 270 tonne vertical lay system.
GC Rieber holds an option for one additional vessel.
The CSV will work for subsea, umbilicals, flow lines and risers (SURF) contractor Ceona upon delivery which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
